Beauty on the go…

by in My World

Here we go again! and every day it’s getting harder and harder to look great and travel at the same time. TSA restrictions, delayed flights, connections, busy schedule, road trips and carry-on luggage are our worst nightmares. Whether traveling by plane, train or car, the art of “looking beautiful” can be especially tricky.

Keeping your hair and makeup looking fresh after a trip isn’t easy. Exiting a car or plane after hours of traveling presents you beauty problems like dry skin, smudged eye makeup, and virtually no hair volume.

My goal as a Hilton Garden Inn beauty expert is to share some of my favorites ‘Beauty Tips’ for all you lady bosses on the go.

TSA loves Ziploc: Not only does TSA ask that you pack all your liquids together in one, but even if not traveling by plane Ziploc bags are a lifesaver for organization. The air pressure on the plane can make liquids do crazy things (like spill out of their sealed tight containers), so put a piece of scotch tape around the seal and put the product in its own Ziploc bag. That way it won’t damage anything else if it does end up spilling.

Carry only your favorites – and essential – products in your makeup bag, 3.4oz or 100ml (remembering these numbers will save you from getting your makeup taken away at TSA checkpoints).

Up in the air: The pressurized air in an airplane cabin has 20% less moisture, causing dry skin, dry eyes and chapped lips. Air-travel musts include moisturizer, eye drops and lip balm.

Hotel Room / Spa time: If staying in a hotel, you can have a little mid-trip treat by keeping your eye cream in the mini-fridge. Buy on the go beauty spa treats like face mask, candles or essentials oils to relax with aromatherapy (Jojoba, Lavender, Ylang Ylang placed behind ears, neck and wrist will help you unwind your day)

Always in a rush: Make your nail polish dry faster by soaking your nails in ice water after painting them. Fill a bowl with ice and water, and soak your nails for a few minutes after painting them. The cold water will set the paint and help your nails dry faster.

Green tea solution: Use cold green tea bags to decrease puffiness under your eyes. The quickest way to de-puffing and tightening your under-eye skin is to apply a cold, caffeine-based product, like two cold green-tea bags, under your eyes for five or six minutes.

No more dry mascara after flight: If your mascara tube has become dry or clumpy, there’s no reason to throw it out. Add some eye drops and it will be as good as new.

I hope you enjoyed some of my favorite time-saving tips, and remember, enjoy traveling and pamper yourself! And remember “Life is beautiful when your feels beautiful”
